Egg Carton Artwork Preflight Checklist

Use this checklist before sending egg carton artwork to print so brand, regulatory, retailer, and production requirements are visible early.

Step 1

Surface planning

  • Assign the job of each surface: shelf impact, mandatory information, brand story, barcode, traceability, inside-lid content, and claim support.
  • Keep important copy away from folds, tabs, locks, glue zones, and high-wear edges.
  • Confirm whether inside print, bottom print, foil, spot UV, embossing, matte, or gloss changes artwork setup.

Step 2

Claim discipline

  • Separate brand messaging from regulatory, retailer, organic, free-range, cage-free, sustainability, recycling, or composting claims.
  • Confirm claim substantiation before final artwork approval.
  • Avoid broad claims such as certified for all markets or 100% recyclable unless documents, finish, and local systems support the claim.

Step 3

Production preflight

  • Prepare editable artwork files, linked images, fonts or outlined text, color references, and final copy.
  • Check CMYK/Pantone setup, image resolution, bleed, safe zones, dieline layer, barcode quality, and proof approvals.
  • Review all language versions and market-specific panels before print files are locked.

Buyer answers

Artwork checklist FAQ

Question

Can Evolo approve legal label copy?

Evolo can provide dielines, artwork setup guidance, and packaging support. Final legal label approval remains the buyer's responsibility.

Question

Should every carton surface be printed?

Not always. The best full-surface designs use each panel with intent instead of filling every surface with equal visual weight.

Question

When should artwork and samples be reviewed together?

Review them together when surface placement, finish, closure, denesting, or shelf presentation could affect the final buyer decision.
